DESCRIPTION:Church Basement Ladies will be the 27th production of the New Era Dinner Theater.  The show will be presented on Friday\, October 7; Saturday\, October 8; and Sunday\, October 9 in the New Era Community Building at 3455 New Era Road in Rural Muscatine\, next to Wild Cat Den State Park.  Dinner will be served at 6:00PM on Friday and Saturday and at 4:00PM on Sunday.  Reservations are required for all performances. \nThis charming and witty musical is a celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who work there.  The Ladies organize the food and solve the problems of a rural Minnesota church in the mid-1960’s. From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young bride-to-be\, we see them handle a record-breaking Christmas dinner\, the funeral of a dear friend\, a Hawaiian Easter fundraiser\, and a steaming hot July wedding. They stave off potential disasters\, share and debate recipes\, instruct the young\, and keep the Pastor on course while thoroughly enjoying\, (and tolerating) each other. \nChurch Basement Ladies is inspired by the books of Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson\, including their best seller\, Growing Up Lutheran.  was originally commissioned and produced by Troupe America\, Inc. at the Plymouth Playhouse\, Minneapolis\, MN under the direction of Curt Wollan and opened on September 8\, 2005 \nThe New Era production is directed by Bill Turner.  Musical direction is provided by Bob Danner.  The cast features Delene McConnaha as Vivian\, Teri Walsh as Mavis\, Cali Van Zandt as Karin\, Bridgette Bissell as Signe\, and Adam Turner as Pastor Gundersen. \nThis year’s dinner will consist of jello salad\, hamburger hot dish\, New Era green beans\, dinner roll\, dessert\, and beverage.  The dining room\, theater\, and restrooms at New Era are handicap accessible. \nProceeds will benefit Doctors Without Borders\, Muscatine Center for Social Action\, and New Era Lutheran Church. \nTickets for the dinner and show are $30 for adults and $20 for children through age 12.  They can be ordered by calling: Joan Dietrich\, 563/299-4710 or Nancy Henke\, 563/263-0881.  Tickets may also be ordered by mail at Church Basement Ladies c/o New Era Lutheran Church\, 3455 New Era Road\, Muscatine\, IA 52761.

DESCRIPTION:Voices of Peace  – “Voices of Peace” Southern Gospel Music Ministry\, of Potter\, Wisconsin\, began in 1997 with Tom and June Balliew and Bud and Carolyn McAtee.  Together\, they launched the 1st outdoor Voices of Peace Gospel Fest in the Hilbert Civic Park\, Hilbert\, Wisconsin\, which continues to be held 2 days annually\, the THIRD Friday and Saturday in August.  This 2-day celebration of song and music has expanded through the years and has inspired thousands for the past decade.  It is known as the BEST Gospel Fest in Wisconsin.  Since Tom’s passing in 2011\, Bud and Carolyn have continued their music ministry as a duo.  Bud\, originally from Michigan\, is a dedicated bluegrass gospel flat picker\, lead singer and harmonizer.  Carolyn\, a Wisconsinite\, sings lead vocal and fills in harmony.  They have written 15 original songs and recorded nine CD’s.  Their music can be heard on numerous radio stations throughout the Midwest\, Alaska\, Canada and literally\, around the world.  They have also appeared on several TV stations throughout Wisconsin.  The music is soothing\, comforting\, and easy listening.  Their goal is to not only provide Christian entertainment\, but to minister to those who are searching for a closer walk with God. In 2012\, Voices of Peace saw a long-awaited dream become a reality.  Bud and Carolyn took a mission trip to the indigenous native people of Alaska to present the message of Jesus Christ through their music and testimony.  This opened many doors of opportunity to further expand ministry in the Far North. As a result\, an annual outdoor Gospel Fest was initiated with numerous groups participating from both the lower 48 and Alaska.  This two-day event is broadcast LIVE\, in its entirety\, streaming over the air waves via radio and Internet and heard literally\, around the world.  It is our hope and prayer that an ongoing mission outreach will be extended to the people of Alaska and beyond.

Amy Current is a pastor in The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and has served the Southeastern Iowa Synod in the office of bishop since 2020. She is a graduate of Concordia College\, Moorhead\, MN (B.A.) and Wartburg Theological Seminary (M.Div.). \nPrior to her role as bishop\, Current served as vice president for admissions and student services at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque\, Iowa. She also served in various leadership roles at Wartburg Seminary including director for financial aid and stewardship formation\, director for public communications\, and interim director of the Center for Youth Ministries. Born and raised in North Dakota\, Amy was honored to serve as pastor of Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Church in Harwood\, N.D.\, as pastor of Golden Ridge Lutheran Church\, Fargo\, N.D.\, and Congregational Lutheran United Church\, Gardner\, N.D. \nBishop Current serves on the boards of Grand View University\, Lutheran Services in Iowa\, Wartburg College\, and Unity Point Health – Des Moines. \nBishop Current is married to Rev. Dr. Samuel Giere\, who serves as professor of biblical interpretation at Wartburg Theological Seminary. They have two children\, Isaac and Shonagh Current Giere. The family has two miniature Australian shepherds\, Archie and Otis. \nBishop Current enjoys reading novels\, kayaking\, snowshoeing\, walking\, sharing meals\, lingering in conversation\, watching tv and exploring through travel.
